TACOMA, Wash. — Dash camera footage from the Tacoma Police Department captured the arrest of a 26-year-old man accused of stealing a car and hitting a 12-year-old girl during his getaway.
Police reported that the incident began around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday when a mother stopped her car at a house on South K Street while her daughter was with her. Moments later, a man entered the vehicle and struck the young girl as he fled the scene.
Dashcam video shows the suspect leading police on a high-speed chase through Tacoma before officers eventually found the vehicle on South Wright Avenue, a few miles from where it was stolen. The man attempted to escape by driving the car through a backyard gate, but the vehicle became stuck, and police took him into custody.
The 12-year-old girl was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, including scrapes and bruises.
The suspect now faces multiple charges, including:
- Robbery in the First Degree
- Assault in the First Degree
- Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
- Resisting Arrest
- Obstructing Arrest
- Hit-and-Run
- Attempting to Elude
